Project Overview

A large-scale textile manufacturing factory in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, featuring specialized ventilation systems, natural lighting design, and humidity-resistant anti-corrosion coatings for textile production. The project was part of Ethiopia industrial park development. ZhongSai provided complete design, manufacturing, and export to Djibouti Port (landlocked country transit).

Frequently Asked Questions

How was the landlocked transit handled?

Ethiopia is landlocked, so all shipments go through Djibouti Port. We coordinated with the freight forwarder for seamless port-to-road transit. The road journey from Djibouti to Addis Ababa takes 3-5 days, and we ensured all containers were properly secured for the mountainous road conditions.

What special design for textile production?

Textile factories require precise humidity control (45-65% RH), dust-free environment, and vibration isolation for weaving machines. We designed 100mm insulated sandwich panels, ridge ventilation with dust filters, and vibration-damping foundation connections for heavy machinery areas.

What about the high altitude in Addis Ababa?

At 2,355m elevation, air density is 25% lower than sea level, affecting both wind loads and ventilation system performance. We adjusted the ventilation fan capacity accordingly and designed the roof for the specific high-altitude wind conditions.

Did Ethiopia require any special certifications?

Ethiopia uses the Ethiopian Building Code Standards (EBCS). The steel structure code (EBCS-3) is based on Eurocode 3. We provided complete calculation packages, and the local consulting engineer reviewed them for municipal approval. No product certification scheme similar to SONCAP was required at the time.
